In the summer of 2010 I was given the opportunity to travel to Paris with the Dalvero Academy. It really was an amazing trip and my first time in Europe.  We went to all the major places to draw such as Notre Dame, Montmartre, and the Eiffel Tower. I remember the first time I went to the Twin Towers, WTC. My dad took me when I was about six or seven years old. My mission was to go to the very top and look down! I somehow feel I was more fearless back then! :) I remember being on the roof and looking over to the next building. It was amazing. I stared at the antenna and tried to figure out how tall it was.  It's a pretty vivid memory I have.

I just returned from a trip to Disneyworld with the Dalvero Academy. Despite it being January it was still pleasant enough outside to be able to draw and paint. On this day we visited Epcot. Last Friday I met up with the Dalvero Academy to do our annual Christmas cards at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art.  The tree they have is beautiful and I love to draw all the angels hanging from it. They always feel so alive and magical.-Danielle

During my lunch breaks from work I like to walk around the city, especially now since the holidays have arrived.  Today it was freezing outside! So I took cover in Grand Central Station and made a quick drawing. Even with the crazy crowds, noisy trains and the Christmas chaos, drawing allows me to take in everything that is going on around me but at the same time allows me the ability to relax.

I really love the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. My dad took me one year when I was about six years old! He said it was really crowded and I kept telling him I couldn't see anything! I love the day before Thanksgiving. The bird arrives and the side dishes are getting ready to be prepared! Last week I walked around New York City and went to Rockefeller Center to see if the Christmas tree was up. When I arrived at Rockefeller Center  I thought the tree would be decorated but the workers were still in the process of putting it together. In the fall of 2008 I embarked on a reportage of Harlem, NYC. Every Saturday morning and afternoon I picked a particular restaurant to draw. I went to a few soul food restaurants like Sylvia's, and Amy Ruth's to name a few. I also found a few good coffee shops along the way and a few bakeries when I needed to refuel as well. It's amazing how much you can learn about a place from simply drawing it

Sailing into New London One of the crew members, Erica, was in charge of keeping a lookout for oncoming ships. Amber was in charge of raising the American Flag and an array of other tasks. She informed me she will soon be rebuilding parts of the Amistad that need to be repaired.

Have you ever been to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City? It really is one of my favorite museums and I love all the galleries. Danielle C. McManus along with her fellow illustrators and friends from the Dalvero Academy were recently featured on the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund website and Facebook page.  In the fall of 2008 we were given the assignment by our instructor  Veronica Lawlor to design a poster commemorating the Fallen Heroes Fund using our digital photography.
